Many people like to have a feature wall in their house. This typically features a bold colour that creates a strong statement, usually in a central area of the house, such as an entrance area or living room.
At Housen, our Gold Coast house painting team can help out with creating a feature wall. But, there are some important decisions for you to make first.
Choose a Location
Is there an area in your house that would most clearly benefit from a splash of colour? A feature wall is typically a larger wall area, and is often in an area of the house that receives higher traffic. Some people choose an entry area, making a striking first impression. Living rooms are another popular choice. You might even have an existing feature wall that you’d like to repaint.
Choose a Colour
When choosing a colour for your feature wall, from a design perspective, you will want to consider your house’s existing colour palette. What colours are there in your house? This can include your wall paint colours, but also your carpets, kitchen benches, tiles, furniture, decorations, and so on. You’ll want to choose a colour that works in well with your house’s existing aesthetic.
You’ll also want to choose a colour that works for you. A feature wall is a bold addition to your house, and you’ll be looking at it every day. Be sure to spend some time making sure that you’re committing to painting a colour you’ll still love five years from now. When in doubt, you might want to seek others’ opinions, such as friends, relatives, or a professional house painter.
Make the Most of It
A feature wall can add to your colour scheme. You might want to pick up on the colour through tasteful matching furniture choices, artwork displays, and other splashes of colour around your house. House painting is just the beginning!
